About Uncle Tommy
As a Waikiki Beach Boy, Uncle Tommy has been giving quality surf lessons since 1973. Born and raised on Oahu, he has been surfing since small kid time.
During the ‘70s and ‘80s, he taught thousands of visitors to surf near the Reef Hotel and Hau Tree in Waikiki. In the ‘90s, he teamed up with long-time Beach Boy vendor, C&K Beach Services, to help visitors experience the thrill of their first waves near world-famous Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Today, he’s still catching waves and chasing swells on Oahu’s South Shore–proving that age should never be a barrier.

Private surf lessons
A 1-on-1 lesson is the best way to learn how to surf. You’ll get individual attention, catch and ride as many waves as you can handle, learn about the ocean…and maybe spot a few sea turtles.
All you have to do is show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Semi-private surf lessons
Share the benefits of a private lesson–1:1 attention, meaningful feedback, uncrowded waves– with your friends and loved ones. If you’re looking for a memorable experience that’s fun for the whole family (suitable for 6 year-olds or 60 year-olds alike), this is it.
As always, your comfort and safety are our top priorities.
We believe that anyone–given the right board and conditions–can learn to surf.
